storms in kansas

I think I may have snapped this shot of my new window pennants during the only ray of sunshine we have seen here in Kansas for the past week. And oops. There it goes. More rain tonight. Maybe some thunder. This really is my favorite time of year in Kansas. I love the thunder and lightning. The feeling in the air before a big storm and the lush green that follows. I love hearing the rain on my windows at night and how my flowers glisten the next morning. So much wonderful this time of year.

Of course there is a flip side to all of this. Last night in Greensburg, Kansas a tornado took out an entire community. The devastation was awesome and complete. As amazing as this time of year is, we need to remember that the power of the weather can turn at any time. These people have lost their churches, their schools, and their way of life. Everything. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those in central Kansas who lost loved ones, farms, businesses, and their community. Lets all send our love and prayers that way this week.

You're nuts. Or, rather, I'm still missing California. The stormy weather season does nothing, nada, zilch for me!
(& I need to turn the TV (or radio) on more. I hadn't heard the news on the latest strom, until the boutique owner I supplied with tutus in ENGLAND emailed me to insure I was alright! Very sad news.)

oh I will say a little prayer for them all. Mother nature can be so harsh.

Like you, I do enjoy a good storm, or good rain storm. I love to read in bed while the rain is coming down... hearing it on the roof. To me it's relaxing + makes me feel cozy.

I love a good storm. I love to feel the pressure change and the wind pick up. Love, love, love it!

That said, tornados are not good storms. I feel so bad for that entire community.

How terrible. We don't get much in the way of natural disasters here in New Jersey (luckily). Glad to see that you are save and sound.

I was looking through the photos online today and what that tornado did is unbelievable. It is just devastating. It may be a smaller area, but Katrina has nothing on what happened in Kansas.

I love storms too, but the devastation that took place in your area is horrible! I'm glad to hear that y'all made it through okay.

Oh, I really don't like storms and I've never been near one like that. I'm keeping all those in KS in my prayers.

Those window pennants are very cute! Crazy weather y'all are having. My heart goes out to the Kansans affected by the tornado. My Alabama hometown was hit at the beginning of March and I just can't imagine the type of damage sustained in your state after seeing what happened at home.

I am so glad you and your family are okay. I've been praying like crazy for the Kansas families effected by all this nonsense.

And your pennants are adorable!
